Inquiry #1: Project Layout sheet call out for Buried end anchors for the MGS. But nothing is shown in the quantity sheet for this to be a non-pay item. Will Caltrans be issue addendum to reflect the payment for these guardrail terminals?

Inquiry #2: Several of the files for this project are not downloadable. Can the department put files into a more user-friendly format, or dropbox type link?

Response #1:(BI#2)-Most files are in ".pdf" format. We tested and opened .pdf files, with no problems. Other file formats are; .xml, .ppf , and .dgn (design) are all fine.

Inquiry #3: Please verify the Steel Soldier Pile (HP 14 x 89) quantity for Retaining Wall "C". We are coming up with slightly higher than the EE based on the provided Pile Data Table.

If this figure is incorrect, does this effect other related quantities.

Inquiry #4: ITEM #133, RAIL ELEMENT WALL (LF)- 900 LF:
Plan sheet C-3 (27/272) gives details for the REWs. This sheet indicates that the height (H) of the Walls could be 12", 18" or 24". I find no information in the Plans giving the H dimension for any of the seven (7) REWs. Please provide the H dimension for each Wall.

Inquiry #6: Item 86: Structural Concrete, Barrier Slab
Item is listed as final pay but sheet 119 Barrier Slab Details shows the thickness varies on the inside edge. What did Caltrans use to establish the bid quantity?

Response #2:(BI#6)-Please refer to sheet 119 of 194 of the contract plans. The minimum thickness of the slab is 1’-8” and from there the thickness varies based on the cross-slope. The bottom of slab is flat. Bid per the current contact documents.
