Inquiry #6: Please verify the last day for pre-bid request for information.

Inquiry submitted 10/10/2019

Response #1:
(#6)-For the North Region (Districts 1, 2 and 3), although inquiries received up to and on the day of the bid are still accepted for review and response consideration, inquiries received less than 3 business days before the bid opening may not allow enough time for a response to be provided. Furthermore, this review/response time increases with the complexity or nature of the inquiry and may cause a response to not be provided before the bid opening.

Inquiry #10: 99-07410 Metal Roofing and Siding
This section appears to apply to all metal roofing and siding on all buildings other than the insulated roof and wall panels on the new equipment building. All other panels on the roof and walls at all buildings in the project use this specification section. However this section specifies a standing seam panel at both the roof and wall panels. However, the elevations in the plans appear to show a corrugated panel but does not specifically call out a panel profile. Please clarify if the roof and wall panels are the same.

Inquiry #21: Metal siding and roofing profiles questions:
There are two different roofing profiles and two different siding profiles shown on the plans. Special Provision section 99-07410B(1) states "as shown on plan" and only one supplier meets the description stated in the specifications.
1. Buildings A3 & A4 appear to have a different panel than buildings A10-A12. Are all the roofing panels on these buildings to be the same profile or is each one different as illustrated in details for each building?
2. Will you accept Metal Sales T-Armor 2-3/8” tall ‘T’ profile panel for buildings A10-A12. Morin is the only company that sells a 2 ½” tall panel as described in specifications. All other manufactures are 2-3/8” tall rib. Metal Sales will be less expensive material cost even with custom 3-coat paint.
3. Typical snap lock profile as depicted in details for buildings A3 & A4 is generally 1-¾” tall rib. What height rib is required on buildings A3 & A4?
4. Is the roofing panel on building A3 intended to be the same as on buildings A10-A12? Detail 2/A3-12 appears to be snap lock profile but detail 1/A3-12 indicates it be similar to A10-A12. Detail 2/A3-12 does not match detail F/A11-5 ‘roof profile’. Drawing A12-4.1 shows 4" standing seam metal roof.

Siding profile questions:
Special Provision section 99-07410B(1) states ‘roofing and siding’, the siding profiles in details do not match that of the profile rib height of 2-½" as described in the specification section. Further, there are two different siding profiles illustrated.
1. Panel profile as illustrated for building A12 in detail 3/A12-7 is indicative of a ‘concealed’ fastened panel. Is the siding panel on building A12 to be ‘concealed fastened’ or exposed? The profile illustrated in 3/A12-7 is not symmetrical such as exposed fastened panels are.
2. There are no details for building A9, what are the specifics for the siding panel on building A9? Is it the same panel as on building A12 or is it an exposed fastened type panel? Please provide profile that specification 99-07410B(1) states "as shown on plan" for reference.
3. Panel profile illustrated in 7/A4-4 is indicative of an exposed fastened panel. Is this panel to be the same as concealed fastened panel on A12 or visa versa?

Questions concerning color:
1. Will a "standard" two-coat color be acceptable? Three-coat colors are always a custom purchase with 6500 square feet minimum coil.
2. Specification Section 99-07410A(2) states CRRC requirements; Sheet A0-4.0 Exterior Color Key states roof to be Colonial Red. The proprietary panel as described in 99-07410B(1) for buildings A10-A12 does not meet these requirements nor does any other manufactures (AEP, Metal Sales, McElroy, MBCI, etc) Colonial Red meet the CRRC requirements stated.
3. Sheet A0-4.0 Exterior Color Key does not state "canopy" metal roofing color, it only states metal roof with insulation. What is the color for the canopies A10-A12 and roof at A4 to receive metal roofing?
4. Is the custom color for siding “Federal Standard FS 26400" to be used for siding on all buildings or only specific buildings?

Section 99-07211 – insulation questions:
1. Polyisocyanurate insulation Manufactures Association (PIMA) changed R-Value ratings for Polyisocyanurate insulation a number of years ago from R-6 per inch to R-5.7 per inch. Is there a minimum R-Value that needs to be achieved for buildings A4 and A12?
2. 99-07221C states second layer of insulation to be adhered. If cover board can be attached per manufactures instructions, which states mechanically fastened is acceptable then why is the insulation adhered? Is insulation loose laid with the cover board mechanically fastened per wind uplift requirements an acceptable form of assembly?
3. Can a low-rise adhesive be used for attachment of second layer of insulation in lieu of hot bitumen?

Other questions related to soffit and siding:
1. Please provide specification and color for perforated metal soffit on building A3.
2. Section 99-07301 only list roofing underlayment. What is the underlayment specification for the siding? Is the siding the same for all buildings requiring metal siding?

Inquiry #23: We would like to respectfully request another consideration on the insulated steel panels. Per Inquiry #11 a 22 gauge panel was requested as an option. Last several days we have been searching for other suppliers on the 20 gauge insulated panels and have only found one supplier. If you would consider a 22 gauge skin it would open this project up to several suppliers. The difference in gauge thickness is .006" but would be more competitively priced.
