Inquiry #1: Bid Item 137 THERMOPLASTIC PAVEMENT MARKING (ENHANCED WET NIGHT VISIBILITY) (RECESSED)- Plan Sheets PDQ-1 through PDQ-3 reference notes within the descriptions/comments that refer to the "NOTES:" on PDQ-1. These notes reference different item #'s that correspond to crosswalks, limit lines, legends & symbols which all fall under bid item 137. Caltrans only has a specification & detail for recessing crosswalks & limit lines only and does not have a detail or specification for recessing legends & symbols. Are the legends & symbols also being recessed or just the limit lines and crosswalk bars? If the Legends & symbols are also being recessed can Caltrans please provide a detail on how to perform that work? As there is no viable equipment on the market to recess word legends or arrow symbols or bike symbols. Also if the word legends or arrow symbols or bike symbols are not being recessed will Caltrans please consider adding an additional line item for NON-RECESSED EWNV MARKINGS?

Inquiry #14: Regarding Roadway Excavation, HMA, and Class 2 AB Quantities.

There is still quantity missing or not accounted for. For example, the concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter from approximately station 421+80 to 430+56 (Lt). Addendum Number 1 does not appear to contain a quantity for Roadway Excavation or HMA for all the curb, gutter and sidewalk in this area. It appears the quantities are only given for the the areas shown on the Construction Details.

Furthermore, the Class 2 AB quantities are not correct. For example, the base section under the concrete is 0.5'. The sidewalk section is 0.33'. Yet the base quantity is exactly the same as the concrete sidewalk quantity. The base quantity should be more because there is base under the curb, gutter, and sidewalk and the section is thicker.

Will the state please review their quantities again?
