Inquiry #1: 1) It doesn't appear that the placement and compaction requirements in Standard Specification 29-3.03 is suitable for for the cement treated permeable base located under abutments. Can you please clarify the placement and compaction requirements for this application?
2) There appears to be short sections of perforated pipe or (BO-3 Detail 3-1 drains) located within the CTPB running between the piles. Can you please provide more detail as to what is required for these drains?

Inquiry #2: The foundation report indicates that the existing abutments extend approximately 4'-6' below the bottom of the CTPB under the new abutments. The existing abutments will have to be entirely removed to facilitate the new piling. What is the back fill requirement for the material beneath the CTPB, once the existing abutments are removed?

Inquiry #4: The limitation for precast RCB culverts on Std Plan D83B states that "where the overfill is less than 12", precast RCB culverts are not to be used". The Std Plans are also not to be used for ... freeze-thaw locations. Can a precast RCB culvert be used if it is specifically designed and approved for the overfill of less than 12" and freeze-thaw reinforcing concerns?

Inquiry #8:
1.At location 3 Markleeville creek bridge Construction , given the staged Construction to accommodate live traffic Temporary shoring will be required while constructing the drilled cast in place piling and the new cast in place backwalls ( beam seats) what bid item will Caltrans pay for the Temporary shoring to retain the roadway thus maintaining crew and public safety.. The cut from finish grade to the pile cut off is around 18.5 feet ..

2. Please confirm that no work in Markleeville Creek (in waterways)will happen before June of any year and no work will be exectuted after October of any year , work window of June thru October?

Inquiry #9: Item 46 Roadside Clearing - There is no Plan sheet showing the limits of Roadside Clearing. Please clarify or provide area.

Item 47 Transplant Shrub is LS. Sheet LD-2 indicates there are three shrubs to transplant. Are we to assume roadside clearing extends 6 feet around these 3 plants?
