Inquiry #2: 1. Page E-9, cabinet ET109. Is it the intention to re-use an existing FDU at this location to terminate the new 12 strand cable here? The SP's, page 71, section 87-19.02F, FIBER DISTRIBUTION UNITS states "NOT USED".
2. Page E-9, SV at approx. 589+00, Note: PROVIDE SPLICE ENCLOSURE AND SPLICE TRAY. Why is a splice point being added to this relatively short run of 144 SMFO cable?
3. Page E-10, cabinet CM108, Note: PROVIDE SPLICE ENCLOSURE AND SPLICE TRAY. Why is this needed here?
4. Page E-10, cabinet CM108, is it the intention to re-use an existing FDU at this location to terminate the new 12 strand cable here?

Inquiry #9: Per the Special Provisions, Section 87-1.03V(2) states that "asphaltic emulsion sealant may be used when dense graded asphalt surfacing will be placed over the installed loop conductors". Please confirm asphaltic emulsion sealant can be used when open graded asphalt surfacing will be placed over the installed loop conductors. If the answer is "No", please change Section 39-3.04A to allow a minimum of 96 hours elapsed time between the time the pavement is cold planed and the HMA is placed, in order to allow adequate time for loop installation.

Inquiry #13: Plan sheet X-2 (2/119) typical sections show the existing fiber optic line slightly below the bottom of the new pavement structural section. Does Caltrans have any pothole information indicating the actual locations/depths of the existing fiber optic line? Please provide this information to the contractors.

Inquiry #14: Plan sheet E-9 through E-11 (75-77/119) show the location of the new fiber optic line. It is difficult to see whether the new line is beyond the edge of the new roadway structural section or if it conflicts with the new section. Is the intent for the new line to be installed outside/beyond the new pavement structural section?
