Inquiry #7: The cross sections as well as the X-2 & X-3 typicals indicate that there is embankment on some of the ramps on this project. However, there is no summary in the quantity summary recognizing any embankment. There is also an item for imported borrow. If we cannot ascertain how you developed your quantity of import from the quantity summary and the cross sections would appear to indicate that in general, there is a surplus of material coming off of this job, please provide us with a quantity summary which also shows embankment quantities for each ramp.

As we cannot find a supplemental report indicating there is any ADL present on the project and there is no bid item for ADL Excavation, we will assume that all surplus dirt coming off of the project is clean and can be hauled to any legal disposal site. Please advise if this is any different.

Inquiry #8: Stage Construction Drawing SC-1 shows the sawcut line to be 27' from the "S1" Line. The Layout sheets indicate that the Retaining Wall is as close as 23.73' Lt of the "S1" Line. Considering the Retaining Wall is a Type 5, with a footing width for h=6' of 7'9", everywhere the wall is less than 33'9" (25' ("S1" Line to back of K-Rail) + 1' (theoretical limit of Retaining Wall Excavation shown on Sheet C-9) + 7'9"(footing width) from the "S1" Line, the footing will be under the K-Rail. Was this configuration anticipated by the owner? Will the Contractor be allowed to reorient the K-Rail to allow excavation of the wall (albeit with shoring)?
