Inquiry #20: REGARDING LONGITUDINAL JOINTS IN CRCP;
Construction Detail Sheets for CRCP, C-92 through C-95, Plans Sheets 155 – 158 designate the longitudinal joints at lane lines and ETW to be “Contraction Joints.” Per Revised Standard Plan P4 and 2018 Standard Plan P 16, Longitudinal Contraction Joints are saw cut weakened plane joints tied with #6 x 50” bar at 48 inch spacing. Since the Structural Sections of the CRCP and the Parallel Parking Structural Concrete pavements do not match and because a contraction joint would indicate that the two sections were to be placed monolithically a couple of issues arise. 1. Vertical location of the tie bar in the 0.5’ Structural Concrete. 2. The Parallel Parking Structural Concrete is shown to be “textured and colored” in the Construction Details which would require it to be placed separately from the CRCP pavement creating a longitudinal construction joint not a contraction joint. Please advise.

In the Construction Detail Drawings the same 8.5' wide concrete parking areas are called out as Minor Concrete (Textured Paving) Type A. Inquiry #39: Referring to bidder inquiry #36.
The quantity of textured paving type A has it's own bid item, bid item 95 Structural Concrete, with a quantity of 899 CY. This quantity was mistakenly included in bid item 127 Minor Concrete (Textured Paving). One of two things needs to happen in order for the bids to be balanced and correct.
1. The quantity for bid item 127 needs to be revised to reflect the Type B & C paving only.
OR
2. Bid item 95 needs to be deleted.
Doing nothing will result in unbalanced bids.
