Inquiry #2: There are 4 each MVP to be built on this project. The plan section is 0.15' Rubberized-AC/0.2' AC/0.5' CL2 base. It costs $15,000 to mobe in a rubber plant to make Rubberized-AC, and the bid quantity is only 40 TN. I would highly recommend that the bid item for Rubber-AC be deleted and the AC depth be increased to 0.35'

Inquiry #3: I have another recommendation for Caltrans to save money on this project. Specification page 26 requires that the contractor off-haul and dispose of the contaminated dirt each shift. Eight of the ten work zones are small. It would be cheaper to haul the contaminated dirt from these 8 locations to a central stockpile area at night, and later once we have a good size stockpile off-haul the dirt during the day. All Caltrans projects have dirt stockpiles at some point.
