Inquiry #5: According to the Summary of Quantities Sheet Q-1 (plan page 355), remove concrete pavement table shows only three location with a 1' existing structural section of Concrete removal; however, if you look at Typical Cross-sections sheets X-1 thru X-7 (plan pages 2-8) you'll notice that the majority of the freeway has existing PCC section, but is not reflected in the areas shown on summary of quantities. Inquiry #9: Our take-off for RW# 123 shows the quantity of structural concrete, retaining wall, is significantly more than the 970 CY shown in the table. It seems that not only is the quantity of concrete for the Type 1B portion of the wall understated, but the 4" concrete facing on the soldier pile portion of the wall was not accounted for. Since this is a final pay item, can Caltrans review their calculations for structural concrete and revise the quantity, if necessary?

Inquiry #27: In Pavement Structure Quantities table on Sheet Q-3, the temporary AC quantity is shown as 9011 Tons, which can be converted to approximately 4500 CY. The quantity for temporary Class 2 ASB is 3665 CY. Your answer to Inquiry #3 says that the temporary pavement section is .5' AC/1' ASB2. If that is the case, then the quantity for Class 2 ASB should be approximately 9000 CY, not 3665 CY. Are there areas where only AC is being placed instead of the full temporary section? Can Caltrans provide more details or cross sections on the traffic handling plans that show where the full section of temporary pavement is being placed and where we are only placing AC?

Inquiry #33: Does Caltrans have pothole data (referenced to the 'A' Line) for the 42" waterline in Petaluma Blvd. South everywhere, but particularly in the vicinity of Retaining Wall #109? Since the 'A' Line cross sections for this wall are not drawn correctly and the footing is actually deeper and wider than shown, we may have to temporarily shore this area to protect the 42" water line and give us the room to provide the two 12' lanes shown on the traffic handling plans for Petaluma Blvd. South.

Response #2:Pothole data for the 42" waterline in Petaluma Blvd South is not available where it runs parallel to Retaining Wall #109. Please refer to note 2 on Sheet U-1 that states: "Locations of utility facilities shown on these plans are approximate and shall be verified by the contractor prior to construction."
Please note that there is no separate payment for temporary shoring, if needed. It is covered under section 7-1.02K(6)(b) for Excavation Safety, Section 5-1.23B(2) for shop drawing format and review times, and Section 5-1.36 of Revised Standard Specifications for property and facility preservation.

Inquiry #35: Section F-F at Sta 107+00 on plan sheet TH-14, shows a raised roadway being supported by temporary shoring to allow for construction of Stage 2. This section does not represent what in going on in this area. The roadway with temporary shoring is actually much lower than Stage 2 construction. The Section F-F should be in Stage 1C and show us temporarily supporting existing southbound. There will also be additional k-rail. needed. The area of supporting existing southbound traffic is from Sta. 107+00 to about Sta. 115+00. Can Caltrans look into this discrepancy and determine if the stage construction plans adequately take this into account?

Response #2:The Standard Specifications require the contractor to provide water. To cover water cost when using cam coupler valves, use Bid Items 204009 "Plant (Group I)", 204036 "Plant (Group B)", and 204096 "Maintain Existing Planted Areas" during plant installation, and use Bid Item 204099 "Plant Establishment Work" for the establishment period.

Response #2:The required components for tackified medium compost (TMC) are as specified in Section 21 of the Standard Specifications. Paragraph 21-2.02K Compost, identifies the particle size for medium compost (95% pass of 5/8? sieve and 70 pass 3/8? sieve) and other properties. Compost shall be installed in an amount to achieve a 2? deep layer over the areas indicated on drawings (resulting in an application rate of 270 c.y. per acre). Plant based tackifier shall be as specified in Section 21 paragraph 21-2.02E Tackifier, with an application rate of 150 lbs/acre.

Inquiry #46: Is the C8 X 11.5 that the fence posts get welded to continuous or just a piece that get's connected at 5' OC. also please confirm the chain link posts remain 10' OC max on center at this section?

Inquiry #47: Inquiry #7 Regarding Item #118, What specifically is being spot blast, clean, and paint undercoat on the new bridge that is not open yet? In addendum #1 give this location but their is no information in the special provisions at all about what is being done.
