Inquiry #3: The project includes an item for Rdway Exc (Type Z-2) ADL. This item is specific to the excavation required for the Concrete Barrier Type 60 SD locations. The bid item does not allow for excavations that may be required for the Concrete Barrier Type 60M (4439'), or for excavations that may be required for the Vegetation Control Minor Concrete (14,200 SY).
The excavation/grading for each of these items will generate excess material, and this surface material is Z-2 ADL. How will the contractor be compensated for the removal of this additional Z-2 ADL material, or can this fill be left on-site adjacent to the excavation?

Inquiry #12: Will the C47C(CA) signs be required to be "NEW" signs upon installation on this project or will used signs in acceptable condition be accepted for use? If used signs in acceptable condition can be used what is the determining factor for "ACCEPTABLE CONDITION"?

Response #2:You could use the used signs in acceptable condition.

For acceptable condition, the recycled construction area sign should be clean and free from graffiti.

Recycled sign " must be visible from 500 feet and legible from 300 feet at noon on a cloudless day and during the hours of darkness under an illumination of legal low-beam headlights by persons with 20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20." As stated in Standard plans Section 12-3.11B(1).

Inquiry #13: Addendum 4 added bid item 124 with a quantity of 21 ea. The project has over 300 drain inlets. Will the contractor be compensated for all inlets required to be protected under item #124?

Response #2:The 21 drainage inlet (DI) protections are intended for protecting the DIs when installing the drainage system. The other DIs should be protected according to Standard Specifications Section 13-4.03E(7) of “Job Site Management” since this is a paving project.
