Inquiry #5: Please confirm sequence for roadway reconstruction with regards to the pavement widening and pavement cold plane and Overlay. Will the contractor sawcut the pavement section 11' from the "A" Line and perform the Roadway Excavation and Pavement Reconstruction along the retaining wall (7' to 7.4' wide) and at a later stage mill out the existing and new pavement surface to the left ETW line and place the final AC Overlay of 0.15' thick. (Sta. 15+19.25 to 17+76.62 = 257.37')
Please confirm quantity for the CL2 AB (7.2 X 257 @ 1' = 68.5 CY)
Also confirm RDWY EXC. Qty which should (7.0 x 257 @ 1.35' deep) more than 40 CY

Inquiry #7: Can you please review the bid item Qty for the Timber Lagging. Per sheet 52 for RW @ PM 5.2, the timber lagging number as noted on the drawing amounts to 470 EA for the 32 bays that are 5'-9" wide for infill. therefore 5.75 x 470 = 2702.5 LF x 6" x 12" = 16215 BFM or 16.2 MBFM. Bid Item # 53 Final Pay (F) is noted as 13 MFBM without any waste or consideration for the additional lumber installed vertically at the end of the wall.

Inquiry #8: Can Caltrans provide us the anticipated award date for the this project in order to determine manufactures planned roll dates for steel beam and when materials can be procured.
With the requirement to provide Steel Beams at specific lengths (33') that are not standard production length or without some drop waste for cutting stock 35' long beams, this information is needed to anticipate start and finish for this project.
Will Caltrans consider the use of an alternative Wide Flange Beams (W10 x 60) that can be procured thru a Mill Roll with not drop waste?

Inquiry #12: Regarding Inquiry #1:
Does the department anticipate pushing this job to bid after the holiday? The current bid date will make the post-bid paperwork due right after the December 26th Christmas holiday. Firms will likely be short –staffed and possibly even closed for the holiday week, making it difficult to obtain written DBE confirmations. Please consider a bid date change giving contractors the proper amount of time to submit responsive post-bid paperwork.
