Inquiry #1: Could you please confirm the quantities for retaining wall 2 as shown on sheet 48 of 171? The wall as shown on the plans is 95' shorter than retaining wall 1 but has almost twice the quantity. You may need to change the other quantities as well if the structure concrete number is incorrect.

Inquiry #3: According to the stage construction drawings, there is a 2'+ deep excavation adjacent to the live lane that is unprotected. Shouldn't the k-rail item reflect protecting these areas?

Response #2:The driveways must be accessible during construction,so placement of k-rails is not possible. Therefore, the work will need to be done with the lane closure and brought up to grade or sloped per specifications to adjacent lane when the lane is reopened.

Inquiry #4: Per the cross sections provided westbound HWY 116 from Sta 117+30 to Sta 132+00 indicate constructing a new structural roadway section along the shoulder, however nothing is indicated on the layout sheets. Please clarify.

Response #2:The cross sections run from west to east. The cross section from station 118+19 to 132+00 indicate constructing a new roadway on the right side and cold plane the remains of the roadway as show in layouts. From station 117+79 to 118+19 is new bridge.

Inquiry #5: Construction Detail C-1 Detail A shows that the Transition Type WB-31 is on a curve. The transition piece from Thrie Beam to W-Beam cannot be radius'd as shown. This cannot be installed on a curve. Please provide a new detail to install around this curve.

Inquiry #8: The AB in Stage 2 is called out to have a prime coat and be protected from traffic for at least 24 hours to allow for absorption. But most of Stage 2 is being built next to live traffic with no k-rail. The only shown k-rail is for retaining wall construction. How do we excavate, place ASB and AB, apply the prime coat, and then allow traffic to run next to a .35' drop off before we can pave?
