Response posted 08/08/2018

Response #2:Existing rumble strips will be overlayed with the proposed 0.2' RHMA-G. A separate removal operation of the existing rumble strips is not necessary.

Inquiry #3: Existing Vegetation Control (Minor Concrete) is present along the approximately 1,400 LF of Adjust Guardrail (SB R36.55 to R36.82). Will Caltrans confirm the existing concrete must be removed and replaced? Or does Caltrans have another option in mind? How would this work be paid?

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.
Response posted 08/17/2018

Response #2:Concrete vegetation control within the limits of Adjust Guardrail shall remain in place. Within the limits of the end terminals the vegetation control should also remain in place. Response posted 08/21/2018

Inquiry #4: Refering to Inquiry #2, the Cayucos Drive NB on-ramp is greater than the 1000 ft of lane length that you are referring to. The station is from 82+85 to 92+90. Please provide the ppf file for this run.

Inquiry #5: Section 83-2.01B(2)(b)(iv) Coloring Agent says: not used and coloring agent must be integral to the concrete mix. Would Caltrans like to use an integral coloring agent for section 83-2.01B(2)(b)(iv) and if so what color?

Inquiry #6: Regarding Bid items 67 thru 74, will Premium Protective Overlay Film be required in the furnish sign pricing?
Inquiry submitted 08/23/2018

Response #1:Premium protective overlay film is not included with this project. Bid per current contract documents.
Response posted 08/24/2018

Inquiry #7: Referring to Inquiry #3, leaving the existing vegetation control concrete under the adjusted guardrail will result in a 0.20' drop-off from the new surface of RHMA-G to existing veg concrete. Caltrans Standard Plans show vegetation control to be flush with the paved shoulder. Is it acceptable to have this grade differential? Or must the contractor conform grind the edge of existing vegetation control concrete for the new RHMA-G to be flush?
Inquiry submitted 08/23/2018

Response #1:The 0.2' RHMA-G overlay must be paved to the face of existing guardrail, where dike is not proposed, and beyond for the dike pad where dike is proposed. Bid per current contract documents.
Response posted 08/24/2018

Inquiry #8: Referring to Inquiry #3 and #7. Regardless of dike and the horizontal limits of paving with respect to guardrail, a 0.20' vertical drop off will still exist when overlaying the roadway with new RHMA-G and maintaining the existing vegetation control concrete at its current elevation. Is the vertical drop off acceptable? If not, how does Caltrans wish to proceed?
Inquiry submitted 08/29/2018

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.
Response posted 08/30/2018

Response #2:Refer to responses to inquiry #3 & #7, bid per current contract documents.
