Inquiry #1: In regards bid item 10 “maintain existing planted area,” it will be impossible to accurately bid this item without scaled plans. Will plans be coming out?

The area of maintain existing planted area is defined as a 10’ radius centered at each valve and flow sensor being replaced. Inquiry #2: Shouldn’t there be a control and neutral conductor bid item to go along with item 19 ultrasonic flow meter? If we are removing existing flow sensors and replacing them with the new ultrasonic units at the booster pumps then new wire will have to be ran back to the irrigation controllers. In addition, without plan sheets we cannot tell how far the irrigation controllers are from the new flow meters.

Response #2:Regarding payment for control and neutral conductors, please see Section 9-1.03 Payment Scope of the Standard Specifications. Control and neutral conductors to make the ultrasonic flow meters operable are included in the bid item for ultrasonic flow meters.

Regarding distance from existing controllers to existing booster pumps, please see Section 20-2.01A(1) of the Standard Specifications for the diagrammatic nature of irrigation plans. Irrigation plans are diagrammatic and should not be used for measuring to estimate quantities.

Inquiry #3: There is a discrepancy about bid item 11 Wood Mulch. Plan sheet PQ-1 planting quantities lists the mulch as shredded bark much but the special provisions say pine needle mulch. Please clarify.

Each replaced valve receives an 8”-wide concrete collar around the valve box. In areas where valves are clustered, the clustered valves also receive an 8”-wide collar around the valve box.

Regarding pressure regulating devices, a pressure regulating device on each valve is not included with this contract.

Regarding removal of concrete valve boxes, please see Section 9-1.03 Payment Scope of the Standard Specifications. Removal of irrigation valves includes removal of the concrete valve boxes.
