Inquiry #1: How do I get to the Information Handout - Water Source information?
Do the grindings have to go to the stockpile location?
10,800 tons is a large stockpile. Will it fit on the NW corner along the roadway?
Do the Prepaving Grinding Days occur after the surface lift or before?

Inquiry #2: Is Caltrans plan for the contractor to cold plane .3' thick, and pave back digouts to existing finished surface using a 3/4" Type A HMA, and later cold plane the entire length of the roadway at .15' thick for .15' overlay using a 1/2" Type A HMA?

Will Caltrans allow more than 5 days between Cold Plane and finish paving?

Response #3:The Contract plans show to cold plane 0.15', complete digouts and pave back the 0.15'. The order of work depends on the means and methods that is chosen.

Inquiry #3: Special Provision (Pg.5): 7-1.02K(6)(j)(iii) informs the contractor that there will be earth material containing lead, typically found in unpaved areas; which will be removed and stockpiled at the material stockpile location.

Where are we removing this material from?

Response #2:Referenced provision includes disturbance, handling, removing, and disposing of natural unpaved soil. It is anticipated that the shoulder work will include these activities.

Inquiry #4: Now that the State has deleted item No. 8, Prepaving Grinding Days, how does the State plan on correcting the existing localized roughness greater than 180in/mi? An asphalt mill and fill of 0.15' will not bring the existing roadway within the tolerances required for Pavement Smoothness 39-2.01A(4)(i)(iii).

Please re-add Item No. 8 or delete the Pavement Smoothness requirements in 39-2.01A(4)(i)(iii).
