Inquiry #4: Based on the initial information received from the permanent steel casing and isolation casing suppliers, it appears that these materials would not be available in time to allow CIDH work to start prior to the start of the 2021 San Antonio Creek work prohibition window on November 1.

Will Caltrans allow the first activity and contract time to start closer to the end the 2022 San Antonio Creek work prohibition window on April 30? This would allow the contractor two work windows to complete the work within the creek. If the contract time starts earlier the contractor would only be able to work within the creek for one work window and would need to greatly accelerate the work within the creek.

Response #2:Item 32 Invasive Species Control (item code 146007) would include hand removal of any invasive species of plants that are observed within the project limits. Currently, there is Arundo donax near the edge of the project limits on the west side that would have to be removed by hand. This would entail cutting the arundo stalks down near grade level and applying an herbicide to the tips that are still in ground. Invasive species that are hand pulled would need to be carefully disposed of and hauled off-site. As for Item 45 Roadside Clearing (item code 200002), work includes removing noxious and invasive plants, weed control as per Section 20-1.03C(1), 20-1.03C(3) of the SSPs.
