Submit new inquiry for this project

Inquiry #1: There are numerous gore locations where minor concrete is to be placed with 2.35' - 1' of roadway ex and there is no item temporary krail on the job. Contract 07-301904 (which is an extension of this project) and is the same type of project, has temporary k-rail to protect the gore areas that are being replaced. Was k-rail overlooked for this project?
Inquiry submitted 08/22/2019

Response #1:K-rail was not overlooked for this project. Minor concrete work requiring 1 inch of excavation is located beyond the gores and outside of the shoulder areas. Based on the Engineer?s analysis of possible construction procedures by the Contractor, the depth of the paving sites will not exceed 6 inches after night closures are removed. An excavation up to 6 inches in depth is allowed outside of the shoulder without K-rail. The 2.35 feet of excavation mentioned in the question occurs at a propose MVP on the WB On-Ramp from Santa Anita Avenue. In this case, the Engineer determined that the MVP work could be completed during weekend closures as provided by the Lane Closure Charts in the Special Provisions. Lean Concrete Base Rapid Setting was selected to shorten the concrete curing durations.

Inquiry submitted 09/18/2019

Response #1:The mentioned quantity for Type Z-2 for location 28 is included as 250 CY on the quantity sheet under sheet WQ-1. At this location the proposed section for the DPPIA is 0.75' depth not 1' as it was calculated on C-16 & C-17.
