Inquiry #1: In regard to Item # 75, Paint Traffic Stripe (2-Coat) these quantities are designated for the Stage Construction. How does Caltrans propose to pay for the 2" Black Contrast Striping (2-Coat) shown on the plans Pavement Delineation Details (PDD-1 & PDD-2)?

The quantities for these black contrast stripes (2-Coat) should be included in Item # 75.

Also; will The Contractor be required to place black contrast striping with the white and yellow striping shown for Stage Construction?

Inquiry submitted 10/24/2019

Response #1:Please refer to Addendum No. 2 issued on November 7, 2019.

Inquiry #2: Bid Item 58 (Concrete Barrier 60MGC) and 65 (Concrete Barrier 60MGC Mod) both are concrete barriers with variable heights. The plans do not specify what the variable heights are for this item. What are the variable heights for these Concrete Barriers?

Height information is needed to properly estimate concrete, rebar, and constructability.

Inquiry submitted 10/25/2019

Response #1:
The variable heights for Bid Item 58 (Concrete Barrier Type 60MGC) range from Min 57.5 inches to Max 86 inches.
The Max height of 86 inches is near Pilgrimage OC at the beginning of the project.
The variable heights for Bid Item 65 (Concrete Barrier Type 60MGC Mod) range from Min 57.5 inches to Max 68 inches.
For Concrete Barrier Type 60MGC Mod see Structural Plans Note 2 on Concrete Barrier Details No. 10 Sheet.

Inquiry #3: Bid item 58 Concrete Barrier 60MGC has 31,800LF. Can the state give a table detailing the height of the wall every 50' to allow for accurate estimating? Just giving the range of the variable for this item does not help because the length of the item is so large.
Inquiry submitted 10/28/2019

Response #1:Please Bid on Item No. 58 as shown on the plans.

Inquiry #4: In regards to SWPPP, there is no Risk Level designated for this project. Additionally, there are no bid items for temporary BMPs (ie, inlet protection, street sweeping, temp ground cover, etc) that are typically listed.
Inquiry submitted 10/28/2019

Response #1:The Risk Level Determination is not required for this project by the Construction General Permit since there is no Disturbed Soil Area created by the project. Additionally, there are no separate bid items
required for temporary BMPs (ie, inlet protection, street sweeping, temp ground cover, etc). These items are incorporated under Job Site Management.

Inquiry #5: Section 51 of the Special provisions states that concrete barriers Type 60MG and 60MGC must-have color concrete. Sheet C-13, note 1 states to incorporate integral colo at station 559+00 to 1441+24.26. This stationing encompasses all the different types of concrete barriers on the job. Is colored concrete required for all Concrete Barriers or just for Bid Items 57 and 58?
Inquiry submitted 11/05/2019

Response #1:All concrete barriers will have an integral color.

Inquiry #6: Sheets 106 and 107 in the plans (DD-1 & DD-2) state Concrete Barriers (type 60MGW MOD& 60MGW) are to be Cast In Place. Is the intent to only use the CAST IN PLACE METHOD to construct bid items 62 and 63 or can the slip form method be used?

Also, Section A-A shows a #4 hoop outside of the anchor portion of the concrete barrier. Is the #4 Hoop required the entire length of the concrete barrier (for items 62 & 63)?

Inquiry submitted 11/12/2019

Response #1:Use only the CAST IN PLACE METHOD to
construct bid items 62 and 63.
The #4 Hoop is required for the entire length of the concrete barrier (for items 62 & 63).

Response posted 11/12/2019

Response #2:Use only the CAST IN PLACE METHOD to
construct bid items 62 and 63.
The #4 Hoop is required for the entire length of the concrete barrier (for items 62 & 63).

Inquiry #7: On Sheet 93 (C-13) There are details that show architectural treatment being applied to the barrier but no pay item for this work. Typically the sate will pay for this work by the square foot and under prepare and stain concrete architectural treatment. Can the state please add this pay item with a square footage quantity so all bidders are looking at this work the same.
Inquiry submitted 11/13/2019

Response #1:The cost to prepare and stain concrete architectural treatment is included as 10% of the cost of the Concrete Barriers. A Square footage quantity is not required.
Bid as shown in the plans.

Inquiry #8: Bid Items 58 (60MGC), 61 (60MGCF), 65 (60MGC Mod.) and 92 (60MC Mod.) are all labeled as some sort of C barrier which will required Cross Sections that give elevations for both sides of the barrier. This information is required to correctly calculate the additional concrete, rebar and labor to install taller walls. Giving a range does not work. This information is critical not only for calculations but also productions. With this information missing the state must push the bid date in order to accurately bid these items.
Inquiry submitted 11/13/2019

Response #1:Bid as shown in the plans.
