Submit new inquiry for this project

Inquiry #1: In regard to the existing centerlines which are four inches (4"); and the existing recessed markers that are cut to the 2" clearance from the stripe; Is it safe to say that Caltrans is expecting the Contractor to cut new recessed slots once the new six inch (6") Details, 22 and 19 are placed, in order to maintain the required 2" clearance?
Also; in areas where there is existing centerline rumble strip, is Caltrans planning on having The Contractor recut the existing rumble strip?
The rumble strip items cover the entire length of the project; are we to assume that Caltrans expects The Contractor to cut new rumble strip, even where some older rumble strip may now exist?

Inquiry #2: In regard to the removal of the existing yellow centerline; If the Contractor is required to remove the centerline where there is existing rumble strip, this would damage the existing rumble strip.
The best fix would be to apply new 6" stripes over the existing 4" striping on the centerline and cut new recessed markers where required to keep the 2" clearance for the new marker. This would alleviate any chance of damaging the existing rumble strip or existing asphalt surface.
Removing the yellow where there is no existing rumble strip is no problem.
Please advise, so that all bidders are aware of these issues.

Response #2:An addendum will be issued to address the preservation of the existing rumble strip based on Bid Inquiry #1. However, the 6" stripe placement and removal of existing stripe is to be performed per plan PDD-1 and its references to the respective Standard Plans.
