Inquiry #1: In the description of work for Stage 2 on SC-4 and Stage 3-Phase 2 on SC-6, it mentions placing precast abutments and precast slab. Per the structure plans the abutments are cast in place. Please clarify if the abutments in Stage 2 & 3-2 are intended to be precast.

Inquiry #2: Please confirm if there is a 2-foot over-excavation required below the footings for the Strawberry Creek abutments and retaining wall. The limits of payment on the staging plan show the over-excavation but the abutment layout sheets do not show it (like it was shown on the Morrill Canyon plans).

Response #2:Over-excavation of 2 feet below the bottom of footings is required at Abutment 2 and the Type 5 retaining wall at Strawberry Creek Bridge (Bridge No. 56-0899). Please refer to sheet 134 of 146 of the plans, section 19-3.03A of the Special Provisions, and the first paragraph under “Geotechnical Recommendations” on page 7 of 10 of the “Foundation Report for Strawberry Creek Bridge (Replace)” in the Information Handout. Please bid per the current contract bid documents.

Inquiry #3: In the Remarks of Chart No. L2 for the complete closure at Strawberry Creek, it states to use the detour plan as shown on MI-1. MI-1 is the detour plan for Morrill Canyon which is on the opposite side of the 15 & 215 Freeways and is not relevant for the location of Strawberry Creek. Please provide a detour plan for the Strawberry Creek Bridge location.

Response #2:An upcoming addendum will be issued to remove chart L-2. The proposed pavement work will be constructed using reverse traffic control per SC-9.

Inquiry #4: 1. Please clarify - per note 1 on page 10 of 19 for Morrill Canyon Creek Bridge if Concrete Barrier Type 842 (Mod) can be considered as a precast barrier or can it be done as cast in place after installing the end girders?

2. Is Morrill Canyon Creek bridge area considered as environmental area III?

Response #2:1. It is the contractor's means and methods to construct the CB 842 Mod, but CB has to be placed on PC/PS Girder prior erection per note 1 on sheet 10 of 19 for Morrill Canyon Creek Bridge.

2. Bid according to current contract documents. There is no definition of "Environmental Area III" per contract documents.

Inquiry #6: Merrill Creek Bridge general plan sheet 1 of 19 (113 overall) it states clearly Stage 1 Traffic and Stage 2 Traffic. Based on the lane closure charts when is the Contractor allowed to build Stage 1 and Stage 2. Caltrans has admitted it cannot be built during the 55 Hour Closure and there is no other time allowed other then night time R Lane closures we need 24 hour closures to build this bridge

Response #1:The construction of Morrill Canyon Bridge will be constructed per SC-1 to SC-7 and TH-1 to TH-3 utilize six 55-hour weekend closures. The work of the bridge structure are included in these SC and TH sheets.
