Inquiry #3: In regard to the striping and recessed pavement markers (items 13 and 14); the totals are not correct. The yellow detail 22 must be doubled, as well as the type "D" recessed pavement markers; they also must be doubled. Item # 13 should be 3,044 each, and Item # 14 should be 140,114 lineal feet. The striping on this project is "Extruded Thermoplastic" (Enhanced Wet Night Visibility) which is measured and paid for as 6" stripe. Double Stripes are measured as two stripes.

Inquiry #4: The typical cross section shown on X-2 for PM 38.3 to PM 38.5 shows a material layer above the .20'HMA section, part of a .30' cold plane and above the rumble strip. What is this layer?

Response #1:This layer is existing Hot Mix Asphalt. 0.3' of cold plane existing with 0.20' HMA overlay is needed, please bid per current contract documents.

Inquiry #5: The smoothness data provided in the information handout has no information on the IRI roughness of the roadway. Without IRI, a smoothness analysis cannot be done. Can Caltrans provide the PPF files for this roadway?
