Inquiry #3: Species Protection Area 2 is defined as:
Desert Tortoise Critical Habitat (SR-62, PM 117-132.7).

Protection Measures for Species Protection Area 2 require:
Immediately prior to the start of ground disturbing activities, and prior to the installation of any desert
tortoise exclusion fencing, clearance surveys for the desert tortoise will be conducted by the contract
supplies biologist. The entire project area and staging areas will be surveyed for desert tortoise and
their burrows by the contract supplied biologist prior to the start of any ground disturbing activities.

Construction Plans indicate that there is no work on SR-62 between 122.5 and 141.8. Are desert tortoise surveys required along SR-62 between 122.5 and 132.7?
