What pipeliner methods will be allowed to be utilized for the 54" Alternative Pipeliner on this project? Depending on the pipeliner methods allowed, will there need to be any specifications added to the special provisions for the project?

Inquiry #2: The CA High Design Manual Section 850-34 dated December 30th, 2015 warns against specifying plastic pipe in areas with a potential for fire. This project lists Alternative Pipe Culvert in the Bid Schedule. Will Caltrans still allow for plastic pipe to be used on this project?

Inquiry #3: Bid Item 101 - METHYL METHACRYLATE PAINT TRAFFIC STRIPE CROSSWALK AND PAVEMENT MARKING (RECESSED): Caltrans only has a specification & detail for recessing crosswalks & limit lines only and does not have a detail or specification for recessing legends & symbols. Are the legends & symbols also being recessed? or just the limit lines and crosswalk bars? If the Legends & symbols are also being recessed can Caltrans please provide a detail on how to perform that work? As there is no viable equipment on the market to recess word legends or arrow symbols or bike symbols. Also if the word legends or arrow symbols or bike symbols are not being recessed will Caltrans please consider adding an additional line item for NON-RECESSED MMA MARKINGS?

Inquiry #5: RE: Bid item 24: Would two 9” Fiber Rolls “stacked” to make the 18” - staked together be approved? An 18” fiber roll would be a custom run and require a larger quantity minimum.

Response #1:Attention is directed to Caltrans Standard Specification 13-10.02B, which applies to bid item 24: "Temporary Large Sediment Barrier". Use of two 9" fiber rolls does not comply with this specification, and would not be approved.

Inquiry #6: In regards to Inquiry #3, Recessed MMA Pavement Markings: There is in fact viable equipment in the market that can performed recessed pavement marking installation for words, symbols, etc., as was performed on previous CalTrans projects completed in 2022. However, clarification is needed regarding recessed cut depth and material application thickness.
