Inquiry #1: Reviewing Addendum #1, We have the following questions:
1) The pricing for Railroad Flagmen has been removed, who pays for the Railroad Flagmen?
2) What are the Railroad Insurance requirements (Limits of coverage, etc.)?
3) What type of trains use these tracks and how many per day? Need this information for the Insurance carrier.

Response #2:1) The Railroad services and work are no longer a contractor requirement. The tenant, Tracy Commerce, will be responsible for the Railroad services and will be reimbursed by the State.
2) The owner, Holly Commerce is responsible for providing the types and levels required. Follow Union Pacific Railroad’s insurance requirements.
3) Need this information for the Insurance carrier. Using the DOT Crossing Inventory Number of 753055S, this information can be found on the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) website. Tracy Commerce indicates that they use bulk sugar cars and the numbers vary from 2-12 a week.

Inquiry #3: The Traffic Handling Plans do not appear to have offset dimensions for the temporary striping. Can you please provide typical cross sections or offset dimensions for the temporary striping and krail. We need this information to determine working room for the bridge work, retaining wall work, etc.

Inquiry #4: Bid Item 72 is for Prestressing Cast-In-Place Concrete. Sheet 287 shows lump sum quantity for prestressing cast-in-place concrete on Corral Hollow Bridge. There are no prestressing cast-in-place details for Corral Hollow Bridge. Furthermore, there are no prestressing cast-in-place concrete details for Sugar Spur Bridge. Please clarify scope of work for bid item 72 prestressing cast-in-place concrete.

Inquiry #7: Regarding the storm drain material selection of project 10-1C3304 and in reference to Section 64 on page 196 of 294 of the specifications 10-1C3304sp, I would like to request that alternative storm drain pipe materials (APC) be granted consideration for substitution. Under Topic 857 – Alternative Materials, in the Caltrans Highway Design Manual (HDM), 857.1 Basic Policy states “When two or more material meet the design service life, and structural and hydraulic requirements, the plans and specifications must provide for alternative pipes, pipe arches, oversize drains, and underdrains to allow for optimal selection by the contractor.” We specifically request the consideration of corrugated polypropylene, as described in Caltrans Standard Specifications Section 64-2.02E. Please confirm this substitution consideration is acceptable.

Inquiry #14: Reference Response to Inquiry #5.

Addendum #3 does not address the K-Rail needed to construct the narrow full depth section(1.30'HMA and 0.50' Cl 2 AB) widenings on the opposite side of the ramps. The traffic handling plans only have K-Rail for constructing one side of the ramp not the other side. Some of the ramps are constructing a new pavement section on both sides of the ramp.
