Inquiry #1: Please clarify the width of the existing bridge, the width of the new bridge and the available work area on the Stage Construction Drawings. The structure plans show the width of the existing bridge to be 42' plus or minus, The bridge is widened 9" but the ultimate width is shown as 42'6". The stage drawings show a total width of 44'3" which affords 10' of room behind the K-Rail. Without looking at the as-builts to confirm the exact orientation of the existing barriers, during Stage 1, the room behind the K-Rail could be as little at 8'3". Also, no dimension is given for the distance from the new edge of deck to the barrier on the right (low) side. Section B-B on Sheet 62 would lead you to believe that the distance is 3". For clarity, could this dimension be shown on Sheets 63 and 64?

Response #2:Refer to the typical section detail on plan sheet 59 for bridge widths.
The PAY LIMITS FOR EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL, SECTION A-A, and SECTION B-B details on plan sheets 61 and 62 show (1) the face (traffic side) of the new barriers will be in the same location as the face of the existing barriers, and (2) the existing barriers are directly over the wingwalls.
Plan sheets 63 and 64 show that (1) each bridge will be widened by 9 inches and (2) the barriers are not the same distance from the edges of deck.

Response #2:Attention is directed to section 12 and to 12-4.02C(12)(b) of the contract specifications. Additional contract specifications do apply.

An interpretation of the specification is as follows:
(Portable Radar Speed Feedback Sign System) is used when there is a lane or shoulder closure or both during the work shift. For example, closing the lane or shoulder to setup Temporary Railing (Type K). After the work shift, the Portable Radar Speed Feedback Sign System needs to be removed from the jobsite or turned off and the signs of the radar covered.

(Temporary Radar Speed Feedback Sign System is a 24/7 system. It is used when there is a long term closure of a lane or shoulder. For example, after the Temporary Railing (Type K) is installed on either lane or shoulder, and the existing roadway conditions are changed, the Temporary Radar Speed Feedback Sign System needs to be turned on 24/7 until the lane or shoulder is returned to the existing condition.
