As this work will not be able to be done with Mainline RHMA-G operations and additional Rubber plant days will be required for a minimal tonnage (315 Tn); will the state please consider changing the RHMA-G in these locations to HMA Type A, as it will decrease the cost of construction for this project?

Inquiry #3: Per Section 37-3 - Agency is suppose to make a selection on if the contractor is to use truck mounted mixing trucks or continuous mixing machines. Please specify which will be required.
Inquiry submitted 03/07/2019

Response #1:The 2018 Standard Specification under 37-3.01C(3)(a) states in the last sentence "Choose a truck mounted mixer-spreader or continuous self-loading mixer spreader." This language was agreed upon by industry and Caltrans in the Rock Products Committee now called the Pavement Materials Partnering Committee, to mean the contractor chooses the type of mixer spreader they use depending on the conditions and length of the pavement project, whether is was a straight alignment or on and off ramps based on their expertise and equipment they are use.
