Inquiry #1: In the amendments to the standard specifications on this project, under section 12-1.4 it states "not used". Does that mean Caltrans does not intend on splitting the flagging costs with the contractor?

Inquiry #2: Plan sheet C-1 (4/41) shows details for "Private Driveway Conform Taper" and "Paving Limits at Private and Public Road Intersections". The details indicate no "Cold Plane AC Pavement" takes place at the Private Driveway Conform Tapers. Plan sheet Q-3 (17/41) shows a table of quantities which includes "Cold Plane AC Pavement" values for each private driveway conform taper. Please clarify whether or not the Private Driveway Conform Tapers require cold planning. If they do, please issue a revised detail indicating so.

Inquiry #4: The existing surfacing has ground-in rumble strips on centerline and edge lines. With a thin lift of 0.10' RHMA-G paved over the existing rumble strips, proper compaction in these areas will not be achievable. The existing rumble strips are not shown on the typical cross sections. Will compaction requirements be waived in these areas?
Inquiry submitted 01/21/2020

Response #1:Compaction requirements will not be waived. Bid per current contract documents.

Inquiry #5: A continuous self-loading mixing machine would appear to be required per 37-3.01C(3)(a) of the special provisions. Can you confirm this is correct?

Inquiry #6: 1. How are the PCMS's shown on sheet 12 of 41 to be paid for?
2. Plan sheet 12 of 41 note #1 indicates that a trailer mounted radar sign must be placed every 5 miles within the project. Project limits are from PM27.9 to PM41.0. Based on that can you confirm that (6) radar trailers will be needed for this project at one time?
3. Plan sheet 12 of 41 note #3 indicates additional signs may be installed on mainline as determined by the engineer. For accurate bidding purposes if the engineer is able to add additional signs how is one to properly bid this work? Will additional signs added by the engineer be paid for on extra work?
4. Plan sheet 12 of 41 note #6 indicates the work zone speed limit reduction system is part of traffic control bid item. For accurate bidding purposes is it safe to say that the installation and removal of all temporary signage shown on sheet 12 of 41 outside of the portable radar speed feedback sign system, sign "B" are to be covered under the traffic control item?
5. Why are there two "Temporary Traffic Control Sign" tables on sheet 12 of 41? One looks to have post mounted signs and the other doesn't. Which one are we to use?
