Inquiry #1: the specification are not clear on the allowable use of rolling closures for this project as they have been on other projects, therefore, are moving closures acceptable for use for either removal of the Thermoplastic Traffic Stripe or installation of bid items 16-18 & 21-23?
Inquiry submitted 11/16/2018

Response #1:Submitted for consideration.

Response #2:Refer to Addendum #1 dated November 27, 2018.

Inquiry #2: 1: Based on CalTran's standard specifications and the project plans the (2) 144"x90" C47C signs are to be mounted on Laminated Wood Box Posts (LWBP). 2015 CalTrans standard specifications section 82-3.02D states that these are a department furnished item. Where will the contractor be able to pick up the LWBP from and will the contractor be required to return the LWBP upon removal?
2: Regarding the (2) C47C signs required on this project shown on sheet 5 of 44 will these signs be required to be "NEW" signs from the manufacture upon installation on this project or will used signs in acceptable condition be accepted for use? If used signs in acceptable condition can be used how will "ACCEPTABLE CONDITION" be determined?

Response #2:1:Refer to Addendum No. 2, dated November 30, 2018.

2:C47C signs in hand can be used but must conform to current design posted at http://www.dot.ca.gov/trafficops/tcd/pfi.html. For acceptable condition, refer to Standard Specification Section 12 Temporary Traffic Control.

Inquiry #3: Based on the response to inquiry #2 the contractor is to furnish the Laminated wood box posts. Can the state provide a list of suppliers where these can be found? The contractor having to furnish these types of posts is new and the only place I am aware of has a 45 to 60-day turnaround time which makes it difficult to procure the posts in time for installation. Not to mention these posts are very expensive for a one-time temporary use installation.
