Inquiry #1: Good morning i have a question about your spec for thermoplastic striping and markings. your spec for thermoplastic striping, and markings call out for warranty thermoplastic sheets 70-73 in the specials. your item and cost codes for thermoplastic striping and markings call out for enhanced wet night visibility these are two different products please match the specs with the product you want thank you.

Response #2:Please refer to section 84-10 for bid items 98, 99, and 100, which specify Tape with Warranty in their descriptions. Please refer to section 84-2 for Bid Items 90, 91, 92, 93, and 94, which do not specify Warranty, they all specify Enhanced Wet Night Visibility. Please bid per the current contract documents.

Inquiry #2: To expand on the first bid inquiry;
The Item codes for the Enhanced Wet Night Visibility Thermoplastic are correct; they are not Warranty items. Caltrans sometimes puts sections into the Special Provisions that do not apply to the work that is being done; this is normal. If the item was warranty, it would state it in the item description, and use the proper item codes.
All Thermoplastic Items on this project are Enhanced Wet Night Visibility.
The only Warranty items are #98, #99 & #100.
This is pretty standard with District 11 Pavement Delineation work.

Inquiry #3: Please clarify the differential between roadway excavation for slopes, new dike, curb ramp grading etc verses the cold plane ac removals quantified as roadway excavation. It is unclear by the bid item quantity and quantity sheet how these quantified and they are decidedly different operation types and costs to be blended and unclear.

Inquiry #5: New dike is wider than existing dike. Excavation and grading into existing slopes to accommodate new dike width and construction equipment will be required. Bid Items and quantity sheets do not have excavation and backfill quantified for the 36,000 L.F. of new & removed dike. Please clarify if excavation and backfill is intended to be incidental to dike bid items per section 39-2.01C(9) or is the work measured and paid for under a other bid items.

Inquiry #6: Section 83-2.02C states, "exposed bolt threads on guardrail beyond the nut that are more than 0.5 inch must be cut off". Does that apply to terminal systems, wb's, etc., that have always had a do not alter in any way directive. Also, the double sided DTTB is difficult to access.
