Inquiry #5: Regarding Bid Item #34, on Sheet X-1, it shows existing PCC at .93' on top of .57' LCB. For the new section it shows .92' Precast Concrete Pavement plus .02' Grind New PCP and remove concrete pavement .90'. This does not allow room for any underslab grout. Note, it is nearly impossible to remove fractions of an inch from existing LCB. We recommend that the Precast be no more than .90' + .02' for sacrificial grinding. Also does the Bid Quantity include the .02' Sacrificial Grinding Layer?

Response #2:The fabricated PCP panel thickness will be 0.92' (which includes 0.02' for sacrificial grinding). The final in-place PCP panel thickness will be 0.90' (after the sacrificial 0.02' grinding has been completed). The Bid Quantity for Bid Item #34 does include the 0.02' sacrificial grinding layer."

Response #2:There is no break in the pavement, the lines represent a pedestrian overcrossing
Response posted 02/17/2022

Inquiry #7: Regarding Bid Item #34, on Sheet X-1, it shows the two lanes to be replaced at 12' wide. On Sheets L-1 and L-5 there appears to be a step in the width on the shoulder of the Southbound Lanes. Do the panel widths get reduced from the 12'? Do the panels start wider than 12'? Once panels get wider than 12' then the length has to be reduced to 11'-3" (plus the dowels) or a trail car is required for shipping. Trail cars increase the cost of freight by approx. 50%.
