Submit new inquiry for this projectInquiry #1: Drainage System 3 shown on plan sht.D-2 [51/174] is a Reinforced Concrete Box - 6'W x 3' Ht. x 87.8 Lf. transversely crossing Rte. 36. Reviewing the "Stage Construction and Traffic Handling plan sht's. SC-2 & SC-4 [79 & 81/174] no attention is given to the construction of this major drainage component. We assume you would decide to follow the Staging indicated for the Ward Creek Bridge by lengthening the bridge construction detour by approximately 1,000 Lf. Additionally please provide a construction detail on how we are to build half of the Reinforced Concrete Box, Temporarily Shore between Stages and connect & pass the winter water flow into the remaining elliptical culvert to be replaced in a subsequent Stage?

Inquiry #4: Bid Item 85 - Ultra High Performance Concrete Mock-up with a quantity of 1 Ea. is shown on Sheet No. 159/174. Note 1 indicates 2 mock-up specimens are required. Since the Bid Item quantity is 1 Ea. we assume Note 1 is referring to the two concrete reinforced sides of one Mock-up Specimen. If Caltrans intent is to have two distinct UHPC Mock-ups then we would expect that Bid Item 85 would be extended and paid for as a quantity of 2 Ea. Please clarify?

Inquiry #13: Special Provision 51-4.02D(2) indicates "Preassemble the precast girders and precast abutment components before shipping to the job site. You must 1) Verify geometry and field conditions, and 2) Assemble PC elements in configuration shown". The precast abutments cannot be pre-assembled safely in the configurations shown in the contract DWGs prior to getting shipment to the job site; at the job sites the precast abutments will slide over pre-driven pile which will act as a safety net in terms of a psuedo internal brace, and will additionally be braced externally. Those conditions will not exist in the precast yard in order to safely stack the pieces. Please confirm the intent for how and/or if the Precast Abutments need to be pre-assembled prior to delivery.
