Inquiry #6: The typical cross sections show grading outside the typical 4’ wide shoulder in order to build a 4:1 slope. Response #2:Existing vegetation control shall be removed under Bid Item 168 (Remove Vegetation Control) prior to installation of new vegetation control.
Excavation and grading are included in Bid Item 167 VEGETATION CONTROL (CRUSHED SHALE), per Special Provision 83-2.01D(4)(b), "Earthwork" and Standard Specifications 9-1.03, "PAYMENT SCOPE", Full compensation for all work involved in each bid item shown on the Bid Item List by the unit of measure shown for that bid item.

Response #2:Special Provisions Section 7-1.02M(2) requires the truck and operator to be available at the site of work, and patrol 1/2 hour after job site activities have ended. If the fire danger rating is "very high" or "extreme" or "fire weather watches" or "red flag warning" is issued, the truck and operator must patrol the area of construction while work is being done and for at least 1/2 hour after job site activities have ended.
