Inquiry #2: Item #0039 Install Precast Box Culvert 8'x4' (85 LF). At DS -2 there is 192 feet of 8'x4' RCB on the ground. Also ad DS-1 there is 24 feet on the ground, for a total of 216 feet on site, How is this extra feet going to be paid as to install?

Can we use Precast RCB on Items 0037F (Structure Concrete Box Culvert). and item 0042 (Bar Reinforcing Steel) Box Culvert)? With the contract completion time of 100 working days, this will allow so time savings. It looks like the previous project the precast RCB was used.

Response #2:All existing RCB pieces on site are accounted for. Only 85 LF are shown on the project plans to be installed and paid for under item #39 (Install Precast Box Culvert 8’x4’). All other box culverts are shown to be CIP and paid for under items #37 (Structural Concrete, Box Culvert) and #42 (Bar Reinforcing Steel, Box Culvert).

For changes, please refer to standard specification, section 5 “Control of Work” regarding means and methods and section 4-1.07 “Value Engineering” for submittal of a Value Engineering Change Proposal.
