Electronic bidding has begun on selected highway construction projects. Caltrans has chosen the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Project Bids software as its electronic bidding solution. Bids is integrated with Info Tech’s Bid Express Internet Bidding Service (Bidx) for the submittal of electronic bids through the Internet.

Office Engineer, Contract Awards, conducts public openings to award Minor A, Major Construction, and Maintenance contracts for the districts. The Department of Transportation has Regionalized Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 10.

Districts 1, 2 and 3 are considered the Northern Region with District 3 (Marysville) as the Northern Regional Office. For the Northern Region ONLY contractors must go to the Regional Office to obtain the State Prevailing Wages (Labor Compliance Office), Contact the Construction Duty Senior, Contract Administration, Cross Sections, Encroachment Permits, Determination of Claims.

Districts 5, 6, 9 and 10 are considered the Central Region with District 6 (Fresno) as the Central Regional Office.

Districts 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12 will not be effected by the Regionalization.
