Inquiry #1: 1. The typical cross sections do not show any roadway removal or replacement in front of the curb & gutter. This is needed for forming the curb & gutter. How will Caltrans pay for the removal and replacement of the roadway section in this area?
2. The quantity of concrete removal does not seem to include the existing base and/or soil removal needed to achieve the new section depth of 8". How will Caltrans pay for this quantity of excavation?

Inquiry #2: The typical Cross Section on page X-1 shows the micro-surfacing to be a type III. Sheet Q-1 the Summary of Quantities shows the Micro-Surfacing as type II. Page 19 of the special provisions states "Aggregate for micro-surfacing must be type II. Can you clarify if the aggregate is type II or Type III.

Response #2:
The annotation conflict is noted. In accordance with Standard Specification 5-1.02, Contract Components, the special provisions govern over the project plans. Special Provision 37-3.01B(2) does indicate the correct Microsurfacing type of Type II.
