Inquiry #3: On sheet 2 of the Project Plans there is a typical detail for Replacing AC Surfacing after the 0.1' Cold Plane has occurred. Then if you go to the Revised Standard Specifications section 30-3.04A it states: "Schedule cold planning activities such that the pavement is cold planed, the HMA is Placed, and the area is opened to traffic during the same work shift." The problem is, for the Replace AC locations to be identified, the 0.1' cold planning must be completed. Then Caltrans can mark out the locations of the Replace AC Surfacing. To try and Cold Plane, have Caltrans locate and mark out the Replace AC Surfacing and have the top lift of AC placed in the same shift is very unlikely.

Please advise.

Inquiry #4: Bid item list shows Thermoplastic Traffic Stripe (Sprayable). Project Specifications shows a revision to Section 84-2.03C(2)(e) - Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes with Enhanced Wet-Night Visibility to revise to 6-inch striping. No revision to Section 84-2.03C(2)(c) is shown to revise the sprayable stripe to 6". Is the striping intended to be sprayable stripe at 0.040 inch thick or ribbon-extrusion stripe with enhanced wet-night visibility at 0.090 inch thick?
