Inquiry #4: Page 14 of the special provisions states: 1. After steam cleaning and before painting the existing bridge, remove sufficient paint at the areas to be tack welded under section 59-1.03C(5). It also states: 3. Prime coat all blast cleaned surfaces after tack welding in the same manner as spot blast cleaning and undercoat operations.

Will this blast cleaning and priming be paid for under item #21 SPOT BLAST CLEAN AND PAINT UNDERCOAT?

Inquiry #5: Please confirm the insurance requirements subcontractors are required to adhere to. Section 7-1.05 does not appear to address subcontractor insurance requirements. The standard spec defines the insurance requirements of a "small business subcontractor", however this section does not clarify the coverage Caltrans requires of a general subcontractor that does not qualify as a small business subcontractor per the small business definition included within Section 7 of the standard spec.

Inquiry #10: Are there details for Bid Item 25 (F) Miscellaneous Metal (Bridge)?

Special Provision Page 14 states "Installation and tightening any missing nuts and bolts, as authorized, will be change order work."

Special Provision Section 75 adds "nuts and bolts on the girder brackets" to the list of miscellaneous metals.

What is the difference between between the potential CCO nuts and bolts and the Section 75 nuts and bolts?
