Inquiry #2: Sheets 101-103 are the boring logs for this project. Note #2 on all 3 sheets states; "Ground water was not measured at the time of drilling." Does this mean that the holes did not have water or that the boring crew just did not measure the water that was there?

Response #2:The Foundation Report states:

Groundwater was measured in Boring R-13-002 on February 14, 2013, two days after drilling began. Groundwater lay at 20.5' below the ground surface, at approximate elevation +134.5'. Groundwater was not measured again in any of the borings.

Inquiry #3: The notice to bidders for this project states "Do not bid less than 70 working days and not more than 110 working days." I do not believe that this quantity of days is sufficient, as this project is built in 3 stages with bridge deck cure times, soil nail / shotcrete walls that will have to be brought down in lifts then painted after curing, as well as the permit requirement to hand excavate the berm over the existing culvert. Please reconsider the quantity of days allowed.

Inquiry #4: The drainage plans do not show any 18" downdrain anchors nor is there a bid item for downdrain anchors. Can Caltrans add a bid item for the number of downdrain anchors required?

Inquiry #5: In the Informational Hand Out - Biological Opinion:
1) If the trees have not been removed yet (Please specify) then respond to the below questions.
2) It states that the tree removal activity will occur 1-year prior to construction as such please confirm that the only site construction taking place in 2018 is the tree removal.
3) Please confirm that stage construction will not start until 2019
4) If tree removal is part of this contract; please delineate the 48-59 tree removal trunk size, location and method of payment

Response #2:Tree removal has already taken place. Tree removal consisted of cutting trees and leaving the stumps. Contract construction is in 2018.

Inquiry #6: 1) We also agree with Inquiry #3, after running a schedule we believe, working 7-days/wk, The Project can not be completed in the construction window (July 1 - October 15th) stated in the Biological Opinion.
2) Addendum 1 increased bid item 31 (Roadway Excavation) by 170 CY however sheet Q-1 summary of quantities doesn't reflect the addition; as such will Q-1 summary of quantities update prior to bid date?

2) Summary of Quantities plan sheet, Roadway Excavation (Bid Item 31) does reflect an increase in total quantity from 1535 CY to 1710 CY.
