Inquiry #2: Bid Item #29, 'Clean and Paint Structural Steel (Existing Bridge)', describes cleaning, blast clean to bare metal, and paint portion of steel surfaces of the existing bridge...
Is the intent of this bid item to clean and paint the portions of steel associated with the existing bearing assemblies prior to bridge removal activities? And Bid Item #34 is the actual spot blasting between the cleaning and painting operations, is that correct?

Response #2:Item 34 is to safely remove lead paint prior to bearing removal. Reference Note 3 on Sheets 21 and 22 of 29.
