Inquiry #3: Section 39.01C(4)(a) of the Special Provisions requires the contractor to "Place HMA on adjacent traveled way lanes such that at the end of each work shift, the distance between the ends of the HMA layers on adjacent lanes is from 5 to 10 feet" and deletes Section 39-2.01C(4)(b). This requirement will limit the production of HMA and RHMA Paving. Will Caltrans consider allowing the Taper Notch Wedge per Section 39-2.01C(4)(b) of the Standard Specifications?
