Inquiry #1: Regarding Bid Items #120, "Pavement Marker Removal," and #144, "Thermoplastic Traffic Stripe Removal," the project plans' Pavement Delineation pages lack specific information about the locations for the additional quantities to be removed. Could Caltrans kindly provide clarification regarding the quantities to be removed for both pavement markers and thermoplastic traffic stripes during Stage 1, Stage 2, and the permanent delineation phases of the project?

Inquiry #2: Sheet 62 of 88 shows an overhead electrical line crossing over the existing bridge and the NW corner of the new pier 2, will this line be moved?

If this line is not moved can Caltrans provide the height of the line as it crosses the existing bridge?

Can the overhead lines be shut down for a length of time?

Inquiry #3: Sheet 72 of 88 indicates there is a 1% cross slope on the existing bridge and contractor will be required to match this slope on the new. Will Caltrans provide the calculations required for this cross slope and the grades for the formworks to match correctly after the prestressing?

Inquiry #14: Regarding item # 9 and 10, SCQ-1 has quantities of det 21 tabulated under the "temp pavement marking (paint). These quantities should be calculated as "temp traffic stripe (paint). The correct quantities for item # 9 should be (102 SF) and item # 19 (4603 LF). In regards to item # 120 and 144, the quantities listed on PDQ-1 should be handled during the cold plane process and do not seem necessary to be listed under the pavement delineation quantities.

Inquiry #15: Please describe which drill and bond dowels are to be paid in Item 81 and which are to be included in either the Barrier or Pedestrian Railing items. For the Bridge only, the quantity appears to be less than 300 LF, but if you add the Barrier (544 LF) and Pedestrian Rail (237 LF), the quantity appears to be understated. If you add only the Pedestrian Rail, the quantity still appears to be understated. Any clarification would be helpful.

Response #2:(BI#15)-Item no. 81, Drill and Bond Dowel does not include Pedestrian Railing and Concrete Barriers. Refer to Section 83-2.10 of the Special Provisions for Pedestrian Railing and Section 83-3.01 of the Standard Specifications for Concrete Barriers. The bid opening date is 11/09/2023. It is unlikely an addendum will be issued. Bid under the current contract bid documents.
