Inquiry #42: Per addendum #4, sheet PL-1, planting requirements no.8 is related to slow-release fertilizer application during plant establishment and is asking for 3 CY of slow-release fertilizer per 1000 SF in all planting areas. This requirement most likely is for the organic amendment application and not slow-release fertilizer. If the project intend it to use slow-release fertilizer during plant establishment as we always see on Caltrans project, then the ratio on note no.8 should be adjusted to 3 Ib per 1000 SF or simply provide the amount of slow-release fertilizer per Ib on the chart like other Caltrans project. The current requirement is adding a huge and unnecessary cost to the project. Please revise the ratio or advise the bidders with further instructions/clarifications.
