Inquiry #1: Typically spec section 39 Asphalt Concrete will call out the following regarding any grind / paveback requirements:

"Replace the 3rd paragraph of section 39-3.04A with:
At the locations listed below, schedule cold planing activities such that the pavement is cold planed, the HMA is placed, and the area is open to traffic during the same work shift:
1. "X operations"

For locations not listed above, schedule cold planing activities such that not more than "X days" has elapsed between the time the pavement is cold planed and the time the HMA is placed. Items 2 and 3 of the last paragraph of section 39-3.04C(1) do not apply"

Please advise if there are any grind / paveback constraints'?

Inquiry #2: Special provision spec section for Traffic Control System 12-4.02C(3)(k) Conventional Highway Lane Requirement Charts states:
Comply with the requirements for the conventional highway lane closures shown in the following chart:
Chart No. K1
Conventional Highway Lane Requirements
County: Sac Route/Direction: 160/NB & SB Post Mile: L1.4/L7.0
Closure limits: PM L1.4/L7.0

Chart K1 calls out a work window at night from PM 1.4/7.0 for 1 way reversing control along SR160. Is there a lane closure chart for the Antioch Bridge at approx. PM 1.3? With the current grind / pave limits at PM 1.4 on SR160, the contractor will have lane closures in place that divert traffic across the bridge in the opposite lane which would close toll booths and affect the West side of the bridge. Please advise?

Inquiry #4: Does Cal Trans consider the current smoothness pay adjustment specification for OGFC Mill + Fill to be economically fair? There is currently not a max deduct for OGFC mill specification.

For Example, all Deducts start @ any MRI greater than 80 MRI regardless of the EXIST MRI.

If you have an EXIST MRI 300 and PAVE the MRI @ a 120 MRI , that is a 60% overall improvement.

The Deduct will be over $5,000 just for that one Segment. Was this Cal Trans intentions for this pay adjustment specification for OGFC Mill + Fill ?
