Inquiry #2: The Notice to Bidders states the following: Complete the work, including plant establishment work, within 1,040 working days. Complete the plant establishment work within 250 working days.
Please clarify if the plant establishment should be higher.

Response #2:There is a 1-year Plant Establishment Period (PEP) for the proposed new planting, which amounts to 250 working days. After the 1-year PEP, the proposed new planting will be maintained as a part of the Maintain Existing Planted Area work, per Planting Note #1 on sheet PP-1.

Response #3:Plant establishment work for new planting will be completed 250 WD, within the Contract working period for Maintain Existing Planted Areas (1,040 WD) as shown.
After the completion of plant establishment work, the planting should be maintained under Maintain Existing Planted Areas until Contract acceptance, as shown in Note 2 on Sheet MEPA-1.

Inquiry #3: Referring to Irrigation notes #6 on sheet IP-1, all new and existing supply lines and facilities are to be considered as temporary irrigation systems. However, all new supply lines and facilities have their own items on Bid item list. Clarify what scope of work shall be included in bid item #0016 (Temporary irrigation system)

Response #2:New and existing irrigation system shown on plans should be considered as “temporary” and may require relocation over the MEPA duration as stated in section 20-2.14 “Temporary Irrigation System.”
Also, the new and existing irrigation system will require removal at the end of the MEPA duration, unless allowed to remain as directed by the Engineer.
This work to be paid for under the bid item 16 (206300) “Temporary Irrigation System.”

Inquiry #7: Referring to Caltrans standard 2023, section 20-10.03C(4) Maintain Existing Planted Areas has specified, “Water existing plants as needed to keep them in a healthy growing condition until contract acceptance”. For bidding purposes, clarify if watering is needed for maintain existing planted areas or not and provide more instructions in case watering is needed.

Response #2:Please see section 20-10.03 of the special provisions requiring watering existing plants as needed to keep them in a healthy growing state. A seasonal water schedule and plan will need to be provided to the Engineer as part of the MEPA Work Plan under 20-10.03A(3).
See project Irrigation Plans for existing and new irrigation system to be used for irrigating new and existing plants to be maintained. Note - there is no local water source within or near the project limits and water will need to be brought in per section 20-1.02B of the Standard Specifications.

Response #2:Staging areas at Stoneybrook and Alameda Creeks are the paved shoulder along the highway. Additional roadside area beyond the shoulder but within State right of way may be allowed when authorized.
