Inquiry #2: The Special Provisions on page 9 state the following: The local water authority, except the City of Palo Alto will install the water meters. It also shows zero charge per meter and water capacity. Additionally, City of Palo Alto shows as doing inspection only.
Please clarify what is the cost for the water meter charges.

Response #2:City of Palo Alto does not provide water meters for recycled water projects, contractor will have to install it, the city does request for the meter to be Badger Recordall Meter.
City of Palo Alto does not charge for connecting a new water meter and they do not have a usage fee (Water Capacity Charge), they did however have a $50 application fee, but that has been paid.
The City of Palo Alto does request to be given at least a 2 week notice prior to connecting to their recycled water line and they will conduct inspections during construction and/or after installation.

Response #2: Two water meters need to be installed (California Water and Redwood City) at this location (Refer to IP-16). California Water will be the water purveyor, and the Irrigation Controller will be associated with this meter. The Redwood City water meter will provide recycled water to California Water, who will then provide recycled water to Caltrans. The Redwood City Meter will be the responsibility of Cal Water after installation and there will be no charges for this meter other than what is shown.

Inquiry #11: On sheet 161, IP-1, the contractor is require to install 2 sprinklers on existing trees. Note 8 on sheet 161, IP-1, states the following: some new and exist[ing] sprinkler not shown for graphic clarity.
Please clarify how many existing trees get 2 sprinklers. Is the installation of 2 sprinklers for existing trees paid under item 45, Tree Well Sprinkler Assembly?

Inquiry #12: The Special Provisions on pages 10-11 show what each city does with respect to the meters.
City of Millbrae furnishes and install each water meter and inspection.
Please confirm if the City of Millbrae is installing all the service line, hot or cold tapping and restoring sidewalks or streets with the installation. Are the other local utilities installing service lines and restoring finish surfaces?

2. Hot or wet tapping local water authority's main water line

Please clarify if the scope above includes trenching the 5'-0" by 5'-6" excavation to tap the mainline. Does include materials for tapping? Does include restoration of finished surfaces including asphalt or concrete?

Inquiry #14: Following the response to inquiry 2 which states that the contractor install the meter for the City of Palo Alto. The not on sheet 205, ID-7, however, states the following: "Lateral water line, pull box and connection to water main are installed by others and shown for reference. Connect 2" water meter to capped water line in existing pull box as show."
Please clarify if the contractor install the water meter, service line, boxes, saddle, and restore the finished surfaces.

Inquiry #23: Refer to Standard Specifications, section 20-10.02C(4), irrigation facilities to be removed that are more than 6 inches below the finished grade may be abandoned in place unless salvaging is specified or shown. However, irrigation removal note 2 on sheet IR -1 shows “remove existing sprinklers, valve assemblies and pipe supply line downstream of existing remote control valves shown to be removed”. Confirm that contractor is only responsible for sprinkler s and valves removal and pipes can be abandoned in place.

The controller equipment descriptions, including the item code, match those from the distributor, Watersavers. Wall-mounted refers to the condition where the back of the controller is attached to a vertical surface. In this case the vertical surface is the inside, back of the controller cabinet. Note that the description also refers to Front Entry. Front Entry refers to the fact that the controller item includes the front entry cabinet. The pedestal is only a box on which the controller cabinet is mounted to raise the cabinet's height.
