Inquiry #2: Refer to Erosion control type 3 on legend plans sheet ECL-1, step 3 shows item Incorporate Materials for Topsoil & compost. However, there is no callout quantity for this item on plans sheet ECQ-1. Please verify working locations required for this material. Also, which bid item would cover the cost for it?

Response #2:Refer to replaced sheet numbers 189, 190, and 192 in Addendum 1. Refer to replaced Bid Items 56, 61, and 62 in Addendum 1. Note that in Steps 1 and 2, the required amounts of topsoil and compost are placed. In Step 3, the material is rototilled into the ground to a depth of 6 inches, in example, nothing is placed in Step 3.

Inquiry #3: Refer to specs section 13-6.03C shows “the drainage inlet protection must be Type 1, Type 4A, Type 4B, or Type 5,..”. However, on plans sheet WPC-1 shows Temporary water pollution notes with Type 4A, Type 4B, Type 5 and Type 2. If there has any of Temporary inlet protection Type 1 would be required for this project? If yes, please provide location to be installed and quantity of Temporary inlet protection Type 1 on the drawings.

Response #3:The application rates referenced are the same – 27.9 lb/acre is a result of rounding 27.85 lb/acre. As shown on ECL-1 the “application rate” for EC Type 3 for the seed mix 3 is 27.9 lb/acre.

Inquiry #6: The CA High Design Manual Section 850-34 dated December 30th, 2015 warns against specifying plastic pipe in areas with a potential for fire. This project lists Alternative Pipe Culvert in the Bid Schedule. Will Caltrans still allow for plastic pipe to be used on this project?

Inquiry #12: Special Provision Section 73-4.02 says the textured concrete paving must use form liner no. 1626, Kleen Slate, or equal. That liner looks to be used in vertical formwork architectural treatments, not in horizontal applications, that is concrete stamps. Is there a concrete stamp pattern that would achieve a similar look?

Response #3:Add lime to the material to be stabilized at the rate of 70 lb/sq yd. The exact rate is based on achieving an unconfined compressive strength of the lime-stabilized soil of 300 lb/sq in, determined under California Test 373.

Inquiry #16: In Stage 2, the plans show that traffic heading northbound on SR-121 from Sears Point, will make a right at the temporary signal to head eastbound toward Napa. Is the existing SR-121 diagonal ramp remaining open at this time since we are excavating for Roadway Section 7 during this Stage? The k-rail stops short if we are closing this area.

Response #2:In Stage 2, the existing SR-121 diagonal ramp will be closed at this time for excavating Roadway Section 7. The k-rail needed to stop short to allow access to Vineyard Inn. Temporary Delineators (Class 1) are installed as an alternative to restrict access, refer to Sheet 141 (TH-6) for more details.
