Inquiry #2: The Foundation Report (Driveability Study) mentions recommending limits of vibratory driving in the contract documents if use is approved by Geotechnical Design. Did Geotechnical Design review and approve? If yes, what limits did they determine?

Inquiry #3: Section 12-4.02C Lane Requirement Chart affecting Route 41 and the bridge over Kings River show that full closures on Route 41 are not allowed at any time. However, the bridge must be fully closed in order to erect the precast bent caps and void slabs, and we see there is a detour plan in place. Please confirm that Route 41 may be fully closed.

Response #2:Attention is directed to plan sheets MI-1 and MI-2 and section 10-1.03 of the Special Provisions. Route 41 is to be closed long term. No Lane Requirement Charts for closures longer than 72 hours, therefore no charts are included in the bid documents. Please place your bid in accordance with the current bid documents.

Inquiry #4: Specifications call for PG70-10 for the RHMA. PG70-10 is not typical for RHMA in District 6 and has been recently substituted for PG64-16 on multiple projects. Will Caltrans consider replacing PG64-16 for PG70-10 for the RHMA on this project?

Inquiry #5: Sheet 93 of 113 note 2 mentions that splicing is not allowed in the main cap reinforcement. However due to the weight of the piece it might be required to broken up into multiple pier cap into sections with closure pours. If this is necessary would an ultimate or service splice be acceptable at closure pour joints?

Inquiry #7: Kings River Bridge General Plan Sheet 1 of 27 appears to show a widening of the Kings River under the bridge. This work is not shown anywhere else in the plans. Is the contractor responsible for the widening and grading of the Kings River, or is this work to be performed by others? If the contractor is responsible, please provide a plan showing the limits of excavation so that we can determine access and methods of construction.

Inquiry #10: Does the Detour for Northbound Route 41 have a validity similar to that for the Southbound Route 41 Detour shown on Sheet 22? As the Central Valley Flood Protection Board Permit restricts work in the Kings River from November 1-July 15, would Caltrans consider extending the validity of the Southbound Detour to October 31?
