Inquiry #23: Special Provisions require excessive testing for JPCP(RSC) work. If only one bus pad is replaced nightly, requiring 5 volumetric mixers, specs require 10 tests for air content, 5 slump tests, 10 tests for unit weight, and fabrication of 60-72 beams for MOR testing in only 35-45 minutes (approximately 40 cy of RSC). Specs for this work typically only require 1 test for air content and fabrication of only 12 beams for up to 130cy. A single QC crew cannot complete the amount of required testing in the time it will take to pour the bus pad. It is likely that 3-4 crews will be required increasing the JPCP(RSC) item cost by as much as $150/cy.
