Inquiry #1: Can you confirm voltage for the (4) new Roadway 12 Luminaires shown on E-15? E-15 notes 240/480V, but ED-7 also lists 120/240V.

Inquiry #2: Reference sheet L-9: "SNFRP4" 54+36.07 and 54+37.03 show "Beg Trans RAILING (TYPE AGT) (SEE STRUCTURE PLANS FOR LIMIT OF Br RAILING Trans). The structure plans do not appear to show any transition rail limits. There is no Concrete Barrier Transition quantity included in the structure plans, or in the summary of quantity sheets for these two runs. Please advise, how is this work measured and paid for?

Inquiry #3: Reference plan sheets SQ-1 through SQ-11:

1) There are quantities included for REMOVE SIGN FROM FRAME and REMOVE SIGN STRUCTURE WALKWAY included when removing existing sign structures (Signs 9-1, 11-1, 13-2, 15-1, 16-1, 17-1, 17-2, 18-1, 18-2, 19-2, 20-1, 22-2). Is the State’s intention to pay for removal of each individual component separately? Typically, removal of the sign panels and walkway are only paid for when the sign structure remains in place. This is consistent with recent Caltrans bids 07-353204 and 12-0R32U4.

2) In many cases, the quantities for REMOVE SIGN STRUCTURE WALKWAY include multiples at each sign structure. It appears that the quantity matches the quantity for REMOVE SIGN FROM FRAME. Example: sign 7.1 includes 4 EA REMOVE SIGN STRUCTURE WALKWAY, but there is only 1 walkway spanning the width of the structure. Can the department please correct the quantity for this item, accordingly?

3) Where new sign structures are being installed, quantities have been included for INSTALL SIGN ON EXISTING FRAME (Signs 9-1, 11-1, 13-2, 15-1, 16-1, 17-1, 17-2, 18-1, 18-2, 19-2, 20-1, 22-2, 70-1, 71-1). Typically, installation of panels on new sign structures is included with the sign structure item. This is consistent with recent Caltrans bids 07-353204 and 12-0R32U4. Will the department correct the quantity for this item to include installation on existing frames only, as the item description would suggest?

Inquiry #12: Regarding response #2 to inquiry #10: the contract documents are unclear. Sign detail sheets indicate there are a total of five bridge mounted overhead sign structures to be supplied and installed as part of the contract, but the summary of quantities only includes two. Because the bid items associated with this work are final pay (560223 and 560224), it is imperative that we know what we are bidding on. Please answer, are we supplying five signs as shown in the details sheets, or two signs as shown in the summary of quantities?
Inquiry submitted 06/25/2025

Response #1:Bid per Summary of Quantity Sheet.
