Inquiry #1: Regarding items 29-31 two-component paint; my understanding is that the Caltrans striping material decision criteria for two component paint was to be used for higher elevation striping where snow plows would be used; typically 2500 elevation and higher. This job location is no higher than 1500 elevation. Can Caltrans please reconsider following this criteria for this type of project and use thermoplastic striping for edge lines and warranty tape for the skip lines? This is what is currently being used on this stretch of road.

Inquiry #3: Inquiry #1: Per the following section of the specifications, truck mounted mixer spreaders are being excluded from bidding on the project except for minor 4 following areas listed below:

Replace the 4th paragraph of section 37-3.01C(3)(a) with:
Use a continuous self-loading mixing machine except you may use truck mounted mixer spreaders on
any of the following:

Numerous successful projects have been completed with Truck Mounted Spreaders. Will Caltrans please amend this portion of the specifications so bidders/contractors with Truck Mounted Spreaders can bid on the mainline work as well?

Inquiry #5: The OGFC gradation requirements will be extremely difficult to control/adjust and make the gradation requirements for the 200 sieve. The slightest shift in the 3/8” cold feed, would throw the tolerance for the lower sieve out of compliance immediately. Can the owner please change the mix type to a 1/2" RHMA- G. This mix has similar gradation requirements.
